Could it happen? Could those behemoths, those boats that belong on the ocean (rather than in our relatively small enclosed lake) soon be a thing of the past? Well, a bill is currently in the State Senate, so at least there is hope. Will it happen? Don't forget the Golden Rule: "He who has the gold, makes the rules." And just who has the gold on Lake Martin? Often, those very same over-compensating big-boat owners, far too many of whom care more about showing off than about the welfare of the people with whom they share the water, not to mention the welfare of the lake itself.

Below, you can read the bill, SB487. Do we here at SaveLakeMartin think it will pass? Let's just say we're not holding our collective breath. But, we're glad to see that at least one politician is willing to look out for the interests of the little guy, even if, in the end, big money will win.

Want to let the politicians know that we little people still have a voice?

The original proposal has been amended; here is the new bill:

Remember the days when you could take to the lake in a boat like this and not see your life flash before your eyes?

Remember when you could actually find water that calm on Lake Martin, even in the middle of summer?
